History - 6/12 Cavalry

 

 

On October 21, 1986 the 4th Battalion, 2nd Armor Training Brigade (Armor Leader) was redesignated as the 6th Squadron, 12th Cavalry at Fort Knox, Kentucky (IAW permanent orders 137-1).

Its mission was to provide command, control and support (administrative, logistical and training) for soldiers assigned/attached to the Departments and Directorates of the Armor School and Armor Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

It was comprised of two Armor Center Companies (Company A, USAARMC and Company B, USAARMC) and three staff and facility troops ( C Troop, D Troop and E Troop).

1991

The Squadron deployed over 120 individual personnel during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.

F Troop was activated in July 1991.
